Core Values Drive Business for Mechanicsville, Virginia-Based Florist

Why should a small business have core values? I mean, a one-woman-owned company should be able to keep it all straight, right? Mostly, yes. But sometimes, it is necessary to return to the basics to guide our practice and remind ourselves of the roots we planted. Oddly enough, I find that the core values of my business reflect the same values I uphold in nursing. So, without further adieu, I present Christy’s Cottage Core Values.

Service Excellence

Once a nurse, always a nurse. I have cared for people for over 23 years as a nurse and that caring does not stop because I have transitioned to another career. I provide individual consultations that are personalized to you.

Education

I want you to have all the information necessary to make an informed decision about your purchase. Correct information empowers you to make the best choices. If there is something I do not know, I will find out the answer.

Respect

I recognize that all of us are different, and our minds may process things differently than the next person. I am a down-to-earth person who runs a business. After a sales consultation, I will provide a quote for my services and you can expect follow-up, but there will be no high-pressure sales pitch. Neither good decisions are made, nor good relationships are formed under duress.

Integrity

If I promise you something in our contract, I deliver on that promise. Period.

Community

I obtain goods from local merchants and flower growers as much as possible, forging relationships within the community.

Relationship

I want every part of the floral process to be a pleasant experience for you and I want you to be happy with the results I deliver. While I specialize mostly in weddings and events, it is my goal that my customers would be so pleased with my work that you would want me to be your florist for life.

I expect you to see these values throughout our floral journey together. In the words of an Aaron Tippin song:

I never turned my back on what I believed

Or let my heart be ruled by greed

‘Cause buddy if I didn’t earn it

I don’t want it

That way I can always say

I got it honest

And there you have it. Christy’s Cottage Core Values. Here is to the start of our journey!
